Their mission is to empower visionary entrepreneurs building technologies that address the world’s most pressing challenges. With a portfolio valued at $89B+, Lateral is recognized as a long-term partner for founders shaping the future of fintech, cleantech, healthtech, and more.
As the firm matured, it needed a website that could communicate its bold vision and serve as a compelling platform for founders, investors, and global partners.

The previous website was functional but limited. It lacked the immersive storytelling and design maturity to reflect Lateral’s mission or portfolio scale. Specific challenges included:

In the early stages of Lateral’s website redesign, we explored a version that leaned heavily into visual experimentation, bold animations, unconventional layouts, and playful interactions.
While it looked exciting in concept, it quickly became clear that it didn’t align with Lateral’s core audience: founders seeking trust, and investors expecting credibility.

The portfolio was rebuilt into a dynamic, filterable hub. It now highlights Lateral’s companies by industry and geography, reinforcing the firm’s credibility and global reach.
For founders, it signals the strength of the network they’d join; for LPs, it showcases the breadth and depth of Lateral’s investments.



( WHY IT DIDN’T MAKE THE CUT )
The issue wasn’t design quality — it was fit.
The playful direction distracted from the serious investment thesis.
Heavy visuals slowed down performance, especially for global users with varying internet speeds.
It risked making the brand feel like a startup, rather than an established venture capital firm managing a multi-billion-dollar portfolio.
We made the call to pivot. By stripping away the noise and focusing on clarity, credibility, and storytelling, the final site aligned perfectly with Lateral’s vision: bold but timeless, modern yet trustworthy.
